between the now and soon, new art takes shape

I get inspired by thoughts and feelings, things I observe, and experiences I go through. The emotions behind my art are almost always caught in the moment, captured on canvas and made still. They serve as a record of me as a person and as an artist, allowing me to live through moments of time and reflect. Because of how fleeting these moments are, they typically stand alone, exposed to the world.

But I had an idea that I couldn’t help but explore further, and so a new collection was born.

liminal s p a c e s is a collection of five works, all focused on the theme of waiting and transition.

In Latin, the word limen means threshold. That in-between place, whether physical or figurative, where you are no longer in the old place, but have not yet reached your new destination.

While I finish preparing it to be released to the world, I wanted to share a special preview. Burn and Cleanse, pictured below, was the very first painting of this series. As cliché as it might sound, it came to me just as I was getting ready to drift away to sleep. The next morning, I had to bring my vision to reality, and that’s when I knew it was time to bring this collection to life.
